Peugeot surprised fans after unveiling two new concepts during the Beijing Auto Show: the Concept 6, which arrives with a sporty look, and the Concept 8, which features the classic appearance of a modern SUV.

Despite their extremely futuristic appearance, the website Car and Driver emphasized the French brand’s position that these concepts are “more than just design studies,” adding that they “foreshadow a new lineup of large sedans produced in China, for China.”

However, Peugeot stressed that the resulting production models could be manufactured “for export from China to Peugeot’s foreign markets,” but it is still unclear whether this specifically includes its home country, France, or Europe more broadly.

“China is one of the key drivers of our global transformation, particularly in electrification, innovation, and brand elevation,” said Alain Favey, CEO of Peugeot.

Both concepts incorporate new Peugeot design elements, highlighted by the thin three-line light signatures at the front and rear. Intricately designed wheels and smoother body surfaces are also present in both models.

The production models will be built at the Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën plant in Wuhan, China. Although not confirmed, these production versions may also benefit from the Hypersquare steering wheel, which features steer-by-wire technology, first previewed through the Polygon concept.
